ACRYLIC ON CANVAS
I create art because it is a form of therapy for me. I love feeling the brush, paper or pastel in my hand and making a mark; my mark. A mark that no one else can make but me. It’s an extension of who I am and knowing that I am leaving something behind. When I am creating something, I don’t think about anything else but that moment. Being creative for me is an outlet, a kind of therapy and a way to escape. It takes my mind away from the everyday and mundane. I am inspired by the beautiful, vibrant color that mother nature provides. I am inspired by the patterns, textures and forms that are in leaves, berries, sea shells, a grain of sand, the sky, the ocean and the earth. I create art because it’s my passion. Being creative has been a part of me since I was a child. I painted on an easel in my backyard starting at the age of four and never stopped. I took as many art classes as I could in high school so by my senior year that was all I had on my schedule. I continued on to art school at Alfred University studying graphic design and photography as well as experimenting with printmaking, painting, and bookmaking. After college I jumped from job to job in Manhattan delving in on-air graphics at ABC television, package design for Elizabeth Arden, Ralph Lauren & Coty and then on to catalogue design for Victoria’s Secret. Now in Sarasota for almost 5 years, I am a freelance graphic designer with a passion for my art and being inspired each day.
